Jobs and volunteering

Positions currently available at headspace Tweed Heads

At headspace, young people’s voices and opinions are front and centre. We are currently recruiting for new volunteers on our headspace Tweed Heads Youth Advisory Group (YAG) to ensure that any new initiative from headspace will make a positive difference in the lives of young people.

Some of the projects YAG members are involved with include:

  • plan and run youth events, workshops, school talks, headspace stalls at festivals and more
  • use headspace social media platforms to connect with and empower other young people and their families
  • assist in the design and development of your local headspace centres – shaping the delivery of headspace services, including policy, staff recruitment and training
  • represent headspace at events for local organisations/services/schools, learn advocacy skills and meet new people

We want to hear from a diverse range of voices aged 12-25yo who live in the Northern Rivers or Southern Gold Coast, particularly if you have experienced your own challenges or feel passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of local young people. You are especially encouraged to apply if you are an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young person, have a disability or identify as LGBTIQAP+.

If this sounds like something you or someone you know would be interested in, please complete the following expression of interest form here, and we’ll be in contact soon! We can also provide more accessible ways to apply by contacting us.

If you have any further questions about the YAG or headspace, please contact your nearest Community Engagement Officer:

What does confidentiality mean for you at headspace?

In Australia, laws protect clients' rights to have the information they share with doctors and others who provide health services kept private. These laws mean that what you tell people during a health care appointment must remain private between you and that person or service, except in particular situations.

There may be times when the person you are seeing at headspace is required by law to share information about you with another organisation, your parents or carers, or in some specific situations, court or the police. This may happen if the staff member thinks you or another person is at risk physically or mentally. If you are under 16 and someone is hurting you, we are required by law to make a report to the Department of Community Services.

Whenever possible, a headspace staff member will talk to you first to explain the reason and need for any disclosure of your personal information. However, confidentiality is your right in almost all circumstances. If you aren't sure, just ask the staff member about your confidentiality before you talk to them. We will always do our best to give you a straight answer.

*where headspace clinicians refer young people to specialists or services external to the Centre, gap fees may be charged by those providers. We recommend discussing any costs, concessions or payment plans with those providers prior to engaging their services.

Young people, parents and carers are welcome to book a 15 minute walk-through of the service before booking a first consultation. One of our friendly Youth Access Clinicians will be your guide!

Please contact reception on (07) 5589 8700 or enquiries@headspace-tweed.org.au if you would like to do so!
