Our friendly staff at headspace Nundah can assist young people aged 12 to 25 with mental health, general health, drug, alcohol, work and study issues. Some services are bulk-billed with a Medicare card and valid Mental Health Treatment Plan.
We have a wide range of support available including Psychologists and Social Workers. Check out our tabs below for more information.
While we accept walk-in appointments, we prefer young people call us to book an initial appointment.
We provide wheel chair access throughout the centre including the toilets.
We are accessible by public transport with a bus stop outside the centre, and the park 'n' ride a short walk away. Please check the Translink website to plan your journey.

Our centre will be closed from 12pm 24/12/24 and will reopen from 9am 02/01/25.

headspace Nundah is operated by Stride. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Brisbane North (Brisbane North Primary Health Network).
Services
Nutrition screening, dietary assessment and education about food and lifestyle, also support around healthy eating strategies.
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.

We are seeking passionate and experienced Accredited Mental Health Social Workers, Clinical and General Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists to join our multidisciplinary team supporting young people living with mental ill-health.
As a Private Practitioner your income will be derived directly from Medicare Billings so you will need to be eligible to provide services under the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS - Better Access).

- Providing high standard assessments, psychological, counselling and therapeutic interventions with 12-25 year olds

About the role
headspace Nundah is seeking General Practitioners, to join our multidisciplinary team supporting people 12-25 years of age living with mental ill-health.
As a General Practitioner your income will be derived directly from Medicare Billings so you will need to be eligible to provide services under the Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS - Better Access).
As part of our headspace by Stride team you will:
- Provide high standard GP assessments of persons experiencing physical and mental health issues.
- Liaise and work with internal and external stakeholders.
- Create Mental Health Care Plans for internal referrals, Psychiatrist and Allied Health Services.
- Provide high quality, primary health care services to those accessing headspace Nundah.
- Respond to medical/health concerns presented by patients including history taking, diagnosis, investigation, treatment and referral as appropriate.
- Encourage and support young people to engage with sexual health and drug and alcohol services as well as preventative health care.
- Have access to Clinical Supervision from our Clinical Manager
- Be well supported by our administration team
The Right Fit

- Current registration with AHPRA, and Medicare Australia.

We accept referrals from any source including self-referrals, referrals from family and friends, referrals from schools or referrals from health professionals (such as a GP).
We understand that asking for help when you're not feeling yourself can sometimes be difficult or uncomfortable. Because of this, we have made our referral process as easy as possible.

If you are under 16 years of age, we encourage you to bring along a parent, care giver or support person for your first appointment.

If you know a young person who might need help you can make an appointment for a young person with their consent.

Privacy
At headspace Nundah we take your privacy very seriously and anything shared with us is confidential. We keep all your information on a secure database which is only available to our headspace by Stride staff. The law stops us from sharing your information outside these people unless we have your permission. Sometimes you do not want us to share your information and we respect that, however there may be times when we need to talk to someone without your permission, such as; if you or someone else is at significant risk of harm or if the law requires us to do so.

Referrals from General Practitioners (GPs):
GPs can fax (07) 3532 5138 and/or email headspace.Nundah@stride.com.au with a Mental Health Care Plan.
We can also receive GP referrals via Medical Objects and RediCASE.
Referrals from Other Healthcare Professionals, Schools or Community Organisations:
If you are a service provider, healthcare professional or Government Department, please complete the referral form and return to headspace Nundah by email, fax or post.
If the young person has a Mental Health Treatment Plan in place please provide a copy of this with the referral form.
We do ask that all external referrers complete our referral form to ensure that the young person you are referring is suitable for service at headspace Nundah.

Please note we are an early intervention service; our staff will assess all incoming referrals and we will contact you shortly after to let you know whether the young person has been accepted into service.
headspace Nundah is not an emergency or acute mental health crisis services.
If you have any immediate concern for the safety of a young person, please direct them to the accident and emergency department at the nearest hospital or dial 000 in an emergency. Or refer the young person to Acute Mental Health Services.
We currently have low wait times.
A young person can access an appointment within 1-2 weeks (Nov 23)
Our services are free or have a low cost.
Services are free, with 10 appointments bulk billed per year covered by Medicare when you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
You don’t need to have a Mental Health Treatment Plan before contacting headspace and coming in for your first appointment. This can be arranged for you with one of our GP’s or your own, after you attend.
Bulk Billing is where headspace, instead of charging you, can bill Medicare (or the Australian government) for the health services that you receive.
If you don't have a Medicare Card
To access headspace Nundah's services for free, all you need to have is a valid Medicare card.

If you don't have a Medicare card but think you might be eligible, you can apply through the Services Australia website.
If you are ineligible to apply for a Medicare card, give us a call and we will direct you to alternative appropriate services for you, such as our fee-for-service options which range in price.

Diverse City
Diverse City is a 6 session program designed by young people who identify as LGBTIQA+ to support other young people. Each session is held fortnightly, and will cover different topics such as:
- The LGBTIQA+ Community
- Healthy Relationships
- Mental Health
- Alcohol and Other Drugs
Socialspace
Socialspace is an open and free group for meeting new people and making friends! Come along and join in on a relaxed environment, full of great people with music, board games, food, movies and much more!
Skillspace
Skillspace is a new program teaching a variety of life skills in a fun and interactive environment. Think cooking on a budget, moving out of home, tackling bills stress free and navigating life post-school like a boss!
Tuning In to Teens
Tuning in to Teens is a 6 session program for parents teaching you emotionally intelligent parenting for 12-17 year olds.

- help your teen learn to manage their emotions?
- help to prevent behaviour problems in your teen?
Parking
There is limited street parking available directly outside our centre. There is also street parking available throughout the area, though please pay attention as some of these spots are time-limited. The map below provides a rough guide for where to park.
Please do not park in the Nundah Village Family Practice or the Woolworths car park.

- Our centre is located 400m from Nundah Train Station
- There is a bus stop less than 50m from our front door (Sandgate Road at Nundah, Stop 2)

We provide wheelchair access throughout the centre including the toilets. We also have a disability parking spot available directly outside the centre.
The centre has two entrances, the side entrance has a ramp for accessibility.

Applications Open! Volunteer with our Youth Reference Group
Our Youth Reference Group (YRG) is made up of a diverse group of young volunteers aged 16-25 years, who help support and guide the centre on key components of youth mental health service delivery and community awareness initiatives both within the Centre and the broader community.
The role of the YRG is varied and members are offered a range of opportunities to contribute to our centre and their community including; reviewing decisions regarding the day to day running of the centre, helping plan youth events and representing headspace Nundah at events or in the media.
