headspace Townsville supports young people, from 12-25, who are going through a tough time.
We can assist young people in four key areas; Physical Health (including sexual health), Mental Health, Alcohol and Other Drugs and Work and Study support.

headspace Townsville is operated by Stride Mental Health. All headspace services are funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. Administration of funding is carried out by the headspace centre’s local Primary Health Network, in this case, Northern Queensland Primary Health Network.
Services
Mental health workers – which may include psychologists, psychiatrists, counsellors and other workers – that can help if you're just not feeling yourself.
Sexual health screenings on site or links to local services.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with work or study opportunities.
Centres have a range of programs and activities for young people. Just ask your centre what they have on.
GPs can help with any physical health issues as well as issues related to sexual health, drug or alcohol use, relationship problems or feeling down or upset. Your centre may have a GP on site or links to one locally.
Workers either on site or linked to the centre who can assist you with any alcohol or other drug concern.
A group of young people who help with events and some decision making at a centre. Ask your centre about getting involved.

Booking in for you
If you are aged 12 to 25, there is no wrong way to access headspace Townsville, with all our services being free and confidential.
There are many ways to book in an appointment with us.
You can call us to book an appointment or complete the self-referral form above.
You can also talk to your Doctor who can send us a referral.
eheadspace is also available for young people and families 9am-1am, with one on one counselling, group chats and lots of information.

Referring a Young Person
If you’d like to refer a young person to headspace, please ensure you have the consent of the young person and complete the referral form above making sure to include all relevant information and documentation. The more information you provide the better this will assist us. If you’d prefer you can also send through referrals via email and fax.
What does my first appointment look like?
Before your first appointment you may get a call or text from one of our staff checking and confirming your appointment.
You’ll also receive text prior to your appointment with a link to our survey. If you don’t receive the link our friendly reception team will help you with the survey when you’re here in person.
Your first appointment with headspace Townsville will be a One At A Time Support session which will be guided by you, the young person. In this session we will talk about the things that matter to you, and about how and what support looks like. We might ask questions about what brought you to headspace, what your goals are for the session, and how headspace can help. To learn more about One At A Time Support, check out our FAQ here.
headspace Townsville has a number of groups that provide a safe and friendly space for you to get to meet new friends, develop skills, and generally have fun! No fees involved!
Social Groups:
Women’s Group – for young women aged 15-25 Wednesday fortnights 5:00pm- 7:00pm
Men’s Group – for young men aged 15-25 Wednesday fortnights 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Jamm Time – for young people aged 12-25 Thursday fortnights 3:30pm – 5:00pm

Talks, Presentations and Workshops
headspace Townsville have a range of talks, presentations and workshops that can be delivered to young people aged 12 to 25 on youth mental health topics.
These presentations and workshops can be tailored for school staff, parents and service providers. If you would like headspace Townsville to attend your school or organisation, please fill out the request form here and email to headspace.Townsville@stride.com.au.
Once we receive your request, one of our team members make contact with you to discuss further. Please note that our Community Awareness Team experiences high demand of request and may take up to 5 business day to get back to you.
DRUMBEAT
headspace Townsville have experienced Holyoake DRUMBEAT facilitator that can deliver the program to your school group or organisation. The Holyoake DRUMBEAT program is a 10 week program designed to build resilience through rhythm. The program strongly focuses on reducing social isolation by increasing social skills so people can better engage with the world around them. This program is best suited to groups of 6 to 15, please contact us to discuss options for larger groups.

Youth Advisory Crew headspace Townsville (YAChT)
headspace Townsville is a strong advocate for young people and believes that the participation of young people in decision making is a key driver of the headspace model. We want to ensure that headspace Townsville keeps young people at the centre of the organisation so that we can continue to be responsive to young people’s needs and preferences.
We are looking for young people aged between 15 and 25 with a variety of backgrounds and experiences, who are
passionate about mental health for our Youth Reference Group.
We welcome all value all young people and embrace diversity.
