Creative Coping
Creative Coping is a 5-week program for young people aged 12-15yrs to manage their physical and emotional wellbeing with creative coping skills. We will cover ways to become friends with your nervous system, cope with emotions and develop healthier connections with self and others.
Creative Coping starts in week 4 of this Term and is held on Wednesday afternoons from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
We meet in our group room, a quiet space with lounges, fidgets, weighted blankets and all that you need to feel comfortable to participate. We will also share afternoon snacks!
Each week you will learn to notice when your body and mind feels safe and connected. Feeling safe and connected helps us to manage our emotions and feel empowered to know what to do when moments in life become challenging. By the end of the program, you will have a creative coping toolkit specific to you and your body to use with life’s ups and downs.
It is a small group of up to 6 people, with 2 headspace clinical team members. Having a smaller group of people makes it less intimidating for us to share in a respectful & comfortable environment. You only have to share if you feel comfortable and safe. Remember your sharing needs to be appropriate in a group environment!
Our headspace clinical team members are there to have a chat afterwards if you feel like you need some support about a topic that comes up in group discussions.
To make sure you get the best outcome from the group, it’s important to commit to coming to each of the 5 sessions. If you can’t make it to a session, you can let the staff at headspace know to keep you in the loop of what you may miss!
If you are interested in coming to Creative Coping, please let a team member at headspace know, or get a family member to let us know. This can be done by giving us a call on 90345160, registering online via the link below, or when visiting us at headspace Esperance.
