About our Youth Health Clinic
The headspace Collingwood Youth Health Clinic (YHC) is a fully accredited medical service just for young people 12-25. Our staff are experts in youth health, and we have male and female GP’s. Our clinic is Bulk Billed, so there is no cost to you! You will need to bring your Medicare card—if you don’t have one, call us to discuss options.
Appointments
So we can make sure everyone has enough time with the GP, the YHC is appointment based. To make an appointment, give us a call on 9417 0150.
While we try to fit in walk-in appointments, this is not always possible! We are unable to offer home visits, but can organise a telehealth appointment if you are unable to attend our centre.
We also offer our YHC services at local secondary schools as part of the Doctors in Secondary Schools (DiSS) program.
We are located at the Charles Latrobe P-12 College (The Pavilion) and Footscray High School (Pilgrim, Barkley and Kinnear campuses).
Urgent or after hours Appointments
In an emergency, please attend your local Accident and Emergency Department.
If you require medical care after hours, please call our medical deputising service on 13SICK – they can arrange a bulk billed home visit.
Communication Policy
If you need to speak to your GP between appointments, we will take your details and message and pass on to them to get back to you.

How it all works/how can I get an appointment
If you are looking for support from headspace Collingwood you need to call us at 9417 0150 to complete your referral with our friendly reception staff. We know this can be a bit daunting but we just need to hear a bit from you so we can make sure that headspace is the right service for you! We don't want to waste your time.
Once we've taken this referral we will find a time to book you in for a call with our intake and access team - this is to have a bit of a longer chat, after this chat the clinician will book in a face to face appointment with you. These appointments are usually about an hour or hour and a half, these are a longer conversation so headspace can get a good idea of what's going on for you and the support you are looking for.
Once this process has happened you and your clinician will decide what support is best for you - some of the options are Brief Intervention Counselling (BIC), Psychology sessions, GP, Alcohol and Drug counselling and Work and Study support.
If you want to know more about this process you can call 9417 0150 or email us at reception@collingwoodheadspace.org.au
headspace Collingwood can be found in the Community Centre at Victoria Park Football Oval, on the corner of Lulie St and Abbott St in Abbotsford. Once you enter the front of the building, you can choose the stairs or the lift to get you to the first floor of the building. Follow the signs to the right of the stairs, and you'll find the reception area of headspace Collingwood.
The easiest way to get support with headspace Collingwood is to have a chat to one of our intake team on the phone. You can do this by calling 9417 0150 Monday - Friday, 9am and 5pm. You can also ask a family member, friend, or someone you trust to call for you, or make a referral for a friend or family member yourself. Please note, we are a voluntary service. You can also email us at reception@collingwoodheadspace.org.au
On your first appointment, we'll ask you to fill out a registration form, and a survey on the ipad. You'll then meet one of our access workers who will have a longer chat with you about how you're going and how we can help. This usually lasts around 45 mins to an hour. We'll then make a plan with you for support. For some of our counselling options, you'll need a Medicare card in order to access sessions under a Mental Health Care Plan. To apply for a Medicare card, go to the Services Australia website. If you don't have a Medicare card, you can call us to discuss options.

Our services at headspace Collingwood are influenced by the hard work of our headspace Collingwood Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).
Our YAC is run by a youth participation worker (Lucy) who manages all things youth participation. The group meets every fortnight and run regular fundraising events in the community, develop on-site projects, inform policy and processes at our centre, speak at schools and other local organisations, create content for social media, as well as generally make our centre a better place to be.
Recruitment for the YAC is now closed - if you want to get involved opportunities will re-open in December. Keep an eye out on socials and the website to see when recruitment re opens.
Want to see what the YAC is all about? Check out this video made by our YAC and one of the YSAS Youth Advocates: YAC Video
