Volunteers earn Mental Health First Aid Certificate
Volunteers from headspace Wollongong and headspace Nowra completed their Youth Mental Health First Aid training this week- giving them vital skills to continue to be leaders in promoting good mental health and help-seeking in their among their freinds and families.
The two day traning course is provided for free by qualified Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) instructors (namely Wazza Jones from headspace Nowra and Anna Beniuk from headspace Wollongong) to youth volunteers at the two centres as part of headspace's commitment to value youth volunteers through ongoing training and development.
This is the third year the traning has been offered to the young people, with five volunteers completing the training in 2015.
Youth Mental Health First Aid aims to give particpants skills to recognise emerging mental health issues in young people in their lives, and provide them with support, information and to guide them to appropriate prefesional help.
