Newcastle Light Rail and Traffic changes
Please allow a little extra time to get to your appointments as they'll be changes to parking and traffic flows in 2018 due to the Light Rail Construction
From the NSW Government
2018 construction program Construction will ramp up in 2018 to minimise the duration of disruption to businesses, residents, road users, workers and visitors. Important lessons from our work on Hunter Street and Stewart Avenue have been implemented into the 2018 program, to allow work to be finished as quickly as possible. We’ll also be completing much-needed upgrades to Newcastle’s century-old sewer infrastructure over the coming months, meaning some construction zones will be closed for longer than others. To help the city function during construction, we’ll continue to identify opportunities like creating new short-term parking and working with partners like Newcastle City Council on park-and-ride solutions. Building light rail is likely to cause some short-term disruption, but the benefits of light rail and the broader Revitalising Newcastle program will be considerable. Information about the 2018 construction program is outlined inside this brochure.
