Mental Health Week

29 Sep 2020
Queensland Mental Health Week is 10-18 October. It is an annual awareness week that aims to shine a spotlight on individual and community mental health and wellbeing. It is linked to National Mental Health Week and World Mental Health Day, which is held on 10 October every year. This year’s theme is Take time — for mental health. From consultations with our Youth Reference Group here at headspace Capalaba, we have decided to utilize people’s love of their pets to initiate a discussion about a) mental health b) how pets support our overall wellbeing and c) how headspace Capalaba can support young people if things are overwhelming. We are calling it “Paws 4 Mental Health.” Leading up to MH week, we will be featuring photos of YRG and Staff pets on social media and an in-centre display with a short blurb of how their pet(s) supports their mental health. A couple of the YRG members have designed this flyer to encourage clients and community members to email in pics of their pets with their own short blurb statement of how their pet is good for their wellbeing!
