headspace Albany invites you to get your hat on for Mental Health awareness and be a part of the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party in 2018. The event takes over the Albany Town Square from 10 am – 1 pm on Friday, October 5 2018.

“This is the fifth year we have held the Tea Party to mark the start of Mental Health Week. It’s become an event that the Albany community and services that support them really look forward to, and most importantly keep people talking about mental health. The event is open to the whole community and is a great way to have a look at the range of services available in the town.” says headspace Albany Manager Andrew Wenzel.

“I think the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party also highlights that looking after our own mental health as individuals and as a community can, and should be great fun. By talking about mental health we can break down barriers to people asking for help when they are going through a tough time”

In addition to stalls from around 16 local mental health support services, there will Albany Act-Belong-Commit partners from sporting clubs and community groups participating this year. To help people connect with groups that have a positive mental health foundation for participants, and belonging to a club or group is a great way to look after your mental health.

At 12 there will be prizes awarded for Best Hat and Best Costume so people are encouraged to dress up in Mad Hatter style to celebrate the event. The Mad Hatter cake will be cut at 11 with FREE cake for all who are attending.

Each stall will have an activity promoting mental wellness and information about their services. There will be food and drinks available for purchase. And people can make a donation to support local mental health services as well.

The headspace Albany thank the City of Albany, Rotary and Albany Halfway House for their support.
